Micromax Canvas 4 teased, here are the specifications.

Micromax recently teased the upcoming Micromax Canvas 4, as we all know the popularity of the Canvas series, it has been taking on the big guns like Samsung, providing some excellent hardware at a very low price. The Canvas, Canvas 2 and the Canvas 3 sold like hot cakes in Indian markets with some astounding sales numbers. Micromax aims to continue the series with the Canvas 4, according to the video pre-booking starts end of June. The Canvas 3 was sold out in a blink of eye when it was announced.

Video can be viewed here.

The specs are going to be mostly the same, it is just an evolution rather than a revolution.

  • It will be powered by a Quad-Core Mediatek MT6589 Cortex A7 chipset running at 1.5 GHz
  • PowerVR SGX544 GPU clocked at 802 MHz
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • The phone will have a 4.99′ FHD-IPS 1080p display, which has great viewing angles as seen on some chinese phones like Zopo and a very narrow bezel which will be a cherry on the cake.
  • 13 MP Rear Camera and a 5/8 MP front camera(Yep, 5 or  8 MEGAPIXEL FRONT CAMERA xD) with 1080p recording at 30 fps.
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • A bigger 3000 mAh battery. All this in a plastic case that looks like Nexus 4 in the front. The video is much like what Samsung used to tease the Galaxy S4 earlier this year. The phone will be running Android 4.2.1 out of the box. Micromax has also promised to give 4.2 to other Canvas phones.

The Micromax Canvas 4 will be priced somewhere between 17K to 20K.

Many people do complain that these are just copying Samsung. People in the market just go out and buy Micromax just because it is cheap. “Micromax ka quad-core 15000 me hai and Samsung ka 35000 me  :P”

“Some Indian TechHeads and geeks do hate Micromax for these reasons, but sometimes I do wonder whether Samsung was also hated like this in their beginning days in South Korea?  :P”

But Micromax does pack in a punch and Samsung has taken quiet some beating from the Canvas series, even though the hardware is  typically from a Chinese manufacturer it will be interesting to see how it shapes up against its competition.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini on June 20th with SnapGragon 400

We have seen a lot of rumors of the S4 Mini in past few days, the launch of the S4 Mini is around the corner, Samsung is going to continue its ritual of launching the Mini version of its flagship phones. The S3 Mini wasn’t quite impressive, it was rather a failure, but Samsung has decided to go further ahead and this time they look completely prepared.

The S4 Mini packs a SnapDragon 400 with 1.5 GB Ram, the processor is  same as that on the Galaxy Mega 6.3. It will pack a 8 Mp Rear Camera and an impressive 1080p 2.1Mp Front Camera. On the software front it is going to run the latest Android 4.2.2 and will carry all the features of its Big Brother, the S4.

The question is that can SnapDragon 400 perform? Well there are very few  phones out there with the SOC, one of them being the HTC’ s First. And going by the reviews it does pack in a punch at a good price.

When will the phone be announced? According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung is expected to announce it at their London event at June 20th.

Leaked Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has the same design as the S4, S3 and Note 2

Google I/O 2013: The Realty

So there have been a lot of rumors around the Google I/O 2013, people predicting about Nexus 5, KeyLimePie and blah blah blahh.. Are these rumors true?

Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013

Google I/O 2013

This is the perfect time to point out somethings about what  is really going to happen at Google I/O.

The strongest rumor is that there is going to be a Nexus 5 released at this Google I/O, well there is some sad news because this is a complete hoax. There will be no Nexus 5 ever, first thing to be noticed is that Google has never launched any smart phone at the I/O, second thing, Nexus 4 was just released a few months ago and many countries are still awaiting for it, moreover there will never be a Nexus 5. As you know that the current Nexus line-up has got three offerings Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10, there is a three-inch difference in the form factors of these devices which is shown in their model number. What that means is that if Google does a Nexus 5, then there has to be a Nexus 8 and a Nexus 11 as well which is not possible. The 4.7′ screen on Nexus 4 is pretty big already, so there is a possibility that we will see a revamped Nexus 4 2013, with 32 GB of memory and LTE support (possibly SnapDragon 600) and an upgraded camera module running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean  (Yep, ‘4.3’ and not the ‘5.0’).

Google Glas

Google Glas

Motorola SmartPhone with pure Google Android Experience

Motorola SmartPhone with pure Google Android Experience

The next version of Android is going to be Android 4.3 and not the 5.0, why?

Well recently Google launched a new update for GMail, which makes it Gmail 4.3, and Gmail app version number generally goes with android.

What can we expect at this Google I/O?

There is going to be new APIs, a new version of android (which in my opinion is going to be Android 4.3 Jelly Bean), a better Google TV experience with better integration of it to android devices. The Google Glass will be released to the public, and a newer version of Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7. We already know that Google has acquired Motorola Mobility and there are chances that we will see a Motorola smart phone with purest of android experience, and it will a sub-4.5′ 1080p display with SnapDragon 600 and 13 MP Camera.

The Google Babble, With leaks abound this unified messaging system it looks nailed on to make its first appearance at Google I/O 2013. Babble is expected to unite Chat, Talk, Voice and Google Plus communication into a single service with the same conversations and features available everywhere. Furthermore talk of a Google bid for WhatsApp earlier in the month suggests the company has plans to go toe-to-toe with Apple’s iMessage and BlackBerry Messenger long-term.

Interestingly Babble is also said to incorporate notification syncing, a long overdue feature that dismisses notifications on all your devices once they are checked on one. Given the growing number of smart devices we carry, hopefully this will encourage other services (we’re looking at you Facebook) to follow suit. Incidentally it is unknown at this stage whether ‘Babble’ will be the final name for the new service (we hope not), but we don’t have to wait long to find out.

Google Game Center
Game Centre may be one of the worst-looking services on iOS, but its ability to unite iPhone, iPad and iPod touch gamers and simplify multiplayer gaming across these devices is beyond doubt. Hints that Google is about to follow in Apple’s footsteps broke only this week with code found in Google’s new MyGlass Project Glass app. The leaks suggest developers will mimic iOS’s multiplayer matching and social system, maintain leaderboards, allow apps to offer community prizes and tie all this info into Google.

This one seems like a no brainer to us as it is somewhere Apple is strong and Google is non-existent. Android has also struggled to provide the same number of premium gaming experiences as iOS, and Google needs to address this given the serious horsepower now available on the platform’s latest flagship phones and tablets.

Google Now for iOS
Numerous Google Now clones have debuted for iOS since Google unveiled what has proved to be a real game-changer for Android handsets. Google execs have hinted Now could be coming to iOS in official form at long last and while Apple has denied it has received an app store submission we think Google will use I/O 2013 to prove it is still happy to provide its best products across multiple platforms.

There will be no Android 5.0, we will not see Nexus 5 or the Motorola X-Phone or SnapDragon 800 processor, no Nvidia Tegra 4 (All these are tricks to get traffic to their websites  :P)  and if you come across any rumor except the one’s stated above please comment below  _/\_

Samsung Galaxy Mega: Is it a phone or a tablet or a f*cking skateboard without wheels!!

Samsung recently announced their new Galaxy Mega series, as the name suggests, ‘mega’ is really MEGA. There are two phones in this line-up, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. These phones are so big that even Note 2 feels smaller compared to them. They actually look  more like compact tablets than SmartPhones. Both run on Dual Core SnapDragon 400 processors and come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Here are a few pics in which the phone is actually compared to some of the other popular smartphones out there.

Apple iPad 5 front bezel leaked.

A pictorial disclosure has surfaced up & it is construed to be front bezel of the fifth-generation iPad. These resulting dispatchments have presented their arrival from the French site Noweherelse.fr who has signified the pair of photos to be the front bezel. Staying in accordance with the existing rumors, the newly published photos depict a design based on the iPad mini constituting narrower side bezels. This is different from the otherwise uniform size ones that are viewable on the current iPad.

According to various rumors, no concrete information has been available as to when the fifth-generation iPad be released; but with the rumor mill working overtime it is regarded that this event could be scheduled for as early as this month. This is understood to be true only if the device gets ready by then, otherwise it is explained that Apple is targeting an October release. With reports from Digitimes, it is remarked that Apple is planning to unveil this innovation in the July/August timeframe.

During the time that rumors and leaks surfaced up with emerging consistency, CiccareseDesign has thrown some light on the renderings constituting the leaks and rumors of the fifth-generation iPad. Along these lines, it has arised that these bezel photos are indeed consistent as dependent on those renderings.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 shows up in GLBenchmark database, runs Android 4.2 on Broadcom chipset

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 is rumored to hit in late May or early June and while there’s not much known about the mid-range droid, data from GLBenchmark gives us some info on the screen, OS and chipset.

The Galaxy Ace 3 is expected to have a 4” screen and GLBenchmark reports WVGA resolution. That would put it on par with the Galaxy S III mini with 233ppi pixel density.

The test was ran on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the same software used by the Galaxy S4. Since the phone packs a VideoCore IV GPU, it most likely uses the same Broadcom chipset as the Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy Grand. It’s clocked a little lower though, 1GHz for the two Cortex-A9 cores.

Earlier rumors suggest that the camera and battery will be unchanged from the Ace 2, meaning 5MP stills, 1080p video and 1,500mAh battery. Also note that the final digit in the model number S7272 points to dual-SIM functionality. The phone is expected in late May or early June for €300.

Next Apple iPhone will boast a 12MP camera

The anticipated next iPhone, although itself still not fully emigrated from rumorland, is expected to feature an improved camera sensor compared to the one found on the current Apple flagship.

The iPhone 5 features an 8MP camera sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, hybrid IR filter, and backside illumination. A source working for Wonderful Saigon Electrics, the manufacturer that makes Apple’s camera modules, alleges that the next iPhone (which is referred to as iPhone 5S) will come with an updated 12MP camera, complete with improved shooting under low-light conditions and HDR support.

Apple is under increased pressure as of late with recent Android flagships like the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 expected to quickly steal marketshare from its iOS platform. The Cupertino giant needs to produce a device that will really raise some eyebrows, and an updated camera sensor may be one of the ingredients it needs.

How to get the Google Nexus 4 in India?

Still waiting for Google to release Nexus 4 in India? Well, there is a bad news, Google has no recent plans for bringing the device in Indian markets any-time soon. Yep, Nexus 7 was launched a few days back here in India, not to forget the fact that Nexus 7 was first unveiled at the Google I/O last year. As it can be seen, sadly India is a dumping ground for Google. They have dumped the Nexus 7 here as they are working on the newer version of Nexus & which is expected at Google I/O this year.

Google Nexus 4 is a 4.7′ Snap Dragon S4 Pro beast which is very much similar to LG Optimus G (Which is available at around 29K in the market now), however the Nexus device is a Nexus device which gives the purest of android experience and has top-of-the-line updates and a huge developer support. The Nexus 4 continues being a heavenly device for Flash’Oholics who like to play around with boot-loaders and custom ROMs.

Here are some of the major Nexus 4 reviews-

The other options available for Indians are the Galaxy S3, Optimus G, One X+ and Lumia 920, but let me tell you one thing, the Nexus 4 smokes all the other devices in all terms. It looks better, feels better, you’ll be standing apart in the crowd, you’ll hardly see anybody using a Nexus device around you. There are some points which an Indian must keep in mind, firstly there is no warranty for a Nexus device because it hasn’t been officially launched in India, if you brick your device, spill coffee over it or drop while reading a news-paper on your toilet seat in the morning, you’ll loose it permanently. There are only a few places in whole of India where the device can be repaired, the LG service centre won’t even touch your device. Well, for people from Mumbai there are a few places like Manish Market and Heera Panna where the device can be repaired. And many people on different forums around the world have reported faulty devices being shipped where they face problems pertaining ti Wi-Fi, Over Heating  Touch-Screen sensitivity etc. I recently got a Nexus 4 and I haven’t faced any such problem. And moreover all these above problems are software related and Google has solved them in JDQ39 4.2.2 update, or you can just head-over to XDA and get a custom ROM like ParanoidAndroid or CM 10.1 , but if your device was faulty then either you can blame your shipping company or your luck (But faulty device being shipped, one in million may-be).

So, here are some ways in which you can get a Nexus 4 if you are from India –
1]  This is the simplest, most reliable and easiest way to get a Nexus 4 sitting at home. I have personally tested this way, I got my Nexus 4 16GB a few days back, completely sealed and in working condition. Just head-over to ManiacStore.com, place an order, use Cash-On-Delivery option, test the device and then pay for it. I ordered my device on April 1, 2013 and I received it on April 4, 2013. The total price for 16GB was 28,540 Rs. (50 Rs. for the delivery man :P).
It was working, sealed and the package was good and safe. So, a thumbs-up for the ManiacStore.com

  • Quick delivery.
  • Excellent support for tracking the status of device.
  • Cash-On- Delivery option.
  • Worth spending a bit-more than getting into the complex procedure of ordering it from USA.
  • Sealed box and you pay only after you test the device.
  • Six Months Seller warranty (Yep. SIX MONTHS).

{Special Note- All the links below are for 16 GB Nexus 4, well because 8 GB Nexus 4 is of no use, you’ll hardly get 6 GB which in my view is too less for such a device, it is like you are buying a Ferrari with with a fuel capacity of 2 Ltr. just to save a few bucks, it is really advisable to buy 16 GB by paying 3K more}

The other options are-

2] The second way is to get it from the Grey Market. Head over to one of the grey markets around Mumbai and get it from there.

Alfa at Vile-Parle, Manish Market or Heera Panna, just get there and buy the device like any other device. Heera Panna is always stocked up with Nexus devices. FOr people uotside Mumbai, just google your city name with ‘Grey Market’. The prices vary from 32K to 40K. Learn the art of bargaining and you can get at least 3K off and also demand a free case or screen protector  😀

3] This way is for someone who wants to get Nexus 4 16 Gb at a really cheap price, you can get into this complex procedure of getting the device from USA, it will cost you around 23K for Nexus 4 16 GB. It will take time to be deliverred, 20-25 days in some cases. There are high chances of your order being cancelled, you oosing your money, or receiving device in a poor state because it is actually being shipped from The States  😀
